Find Your Personal Info on Data Broker Sites With Claude (Prompt + Opt-Out Checklist)
TL;DR
People-search and data broker sites publish names, addresses, phone numbers and relatives. Turn on web search in Claude, paste the finder prompt below with your name and city, and Claude builds a table of the sites it can find you on, what each shows, and where its opt-out page is. Then work down the list. We checked every opt-out link on this page live on October 3, 2026. Claude can't see behind every site's search box, so use its table as a starting point and finish with the checklist below.
Your name, address and phone number are probably listed on at least one people-search site right now. Most of these sites have their own opt-out page. The hard part is finding which ones show you and where their opt-out page is hidden. That is the part Claude can speed up.
Before you start: protect the chat itself
- Start the chat with memory off. In a new chat, click + in the message box and turn off Memory before you send the first message. Anthropic says nothing from that chat is saved to Claude's memory.
- Give Claude as little as possible. Your name and city are enough to search. Do not paste your Social Security number, full date of birth, or passwords. No opt-out form on this page needs them.
- Use a separate email for opt-outs if you have one. Many forms send a confirmation link to the email you enter.
Step 1: turn on web search
Click + in the lower left of the chat box and select Web search so a checkmark appears. If you are on the new Claude experience and don't see a toggle, Anthropic says Claude searches the web when it helps, so the prompt below tells it to search.
Step 2: paste the finder prompt
promptSearch the web for my personal information on people-search and data broker sites, so I can opt out.
My details:
- Full name: [First Last]
- Other names I have used: [maiden name, nickname, or none]
- Current city and state: [City, ST]
- Past cities: [City, ST; City, ST]
- Age range: [e.g. 35 to 40]
Search these sites first, then any others you find:
Spokeo, Whitepages, BeenVerified, TruthFinder, Instant Checkmate, Intelius, FastPeopleSearch, PeopleFinders, FamilyTreeNow, ThatsThem, USPhoneBook, SearchPeopleFree, SmartBackgroundChecks.
Give me one table with these columns:
1. Site
2. Status: FOUND (a listing that matches me), POSSIBLE (could be me), or COULD NOT CHECK
3. What it shows (address, phone, email, relatives, age), only what you actually saw
4. Link to the listing, if you found one
5. The site's official opt-out page, taken from the site itself
6. What the opt-out asks for (profile URL, email, phone call, ID)
Rules:
- Never guess. If a site blocks you or you can't open it, mark it COULD NOT CHECK.
- Only give opt-out links you found on that site's own pages, and cite where you found each one.
- Do not ask me for my Social Security number, date of birth or full street address.
- Put the sites that show the most about me at the top.Step 3: turn the table into a to-do list
promptTurn that table into a numbered opt-out checklist for me.
For each site, in order:
- the opt-out link
- the exact steps, in plain words (what to search, which record to pick, what to type)
- what I need ready (the listing URL, an email address, a phone)
- one line on what to expect after (a confirmation email, a wait time), only if the site says so
Add a [ ] box in front of each site so I can tick it off. Skip any site marked COULD NOT CHECK and list those at the bottom as 'search these yourself'.Step 4: work down the list
Do two or three sites a day. On each one: find your record, submit the form, and click any confirmation email the site sends.
The opt-out checklist (every link checked live on October 3, 2026)
We opened each of these pages on October 3, 2026 and confirmed it is the site's own opt-out or removal page. Sites move these pages, so if one breaks, search the site name plus "opt out".
Paste the URL of your Spokeo profile into the form. Spokeo notes that opting out does not remove the data from its original source.
Whitepages' own page to opt out and have your listing removed from the site.
Search their database with the form, then select the record you want to opt out.
One free tool that hides your report on all PeopleConnect people-search sites, including TruthFinder, Instant Checkmate, Intelius and US Search.
The site's opt-out request page. Follow the directions on the page carefully.
Record suppression form. Fill it out and press Submit.
Privacy request form to opt your information out of their records.
Request removal of your personal information from their database.
US Phone Book opt-out form.
Record removal request. Follow the directions on the page.
Opt-out request page. Submissions are reviewed by the site.
Not a people-search site, but one of the big marketing data brokers. Its opt-out page takes requests online, by phone or by mail.
Two more tools worth using
Google's tool shows whether your home address, phone number or email shows up in Google Search results, and lets you request removal of those results. It removes the result from Google, not the page itself.
A free state tool that sends one deletion request to over 600 registered data brokers. The state says brokers must check DROP at least once every 45 days starting August 1, 2026.
Optional: a deletion request email
Some sites only take requests by email. Ask Claude to draft one, then send it yourself.
promptWrite a short, polite email to [site name] asking them to delete my personal information and stop selling or sharing it.
Include:
- my name: [First Last]
- the URL of my listing: [URL]
- the state I live in: [State]
If my state has a consumer privacy law that gives me a right to delete, mention it by name only if you can confirm it applies to me with a web search, and cite the source. Otherwise, leave the law out. Keep it under 150 words. Now you just take your info back, one link at a time. Inside the Claude Code Club we share the prompts we actually use for everyday jobs like this one and help each other run them. It's nine dollars a month at https://www.skool.com/claudecodeclub/about. Everything on this page works without it.
Common questions
Can Claude remove my information from data broker sites for me?
No. Claude finds listings and opt-out pages and writes your checklist and emails. You submit each opt-out form yourself, because the forms ask you to find and select your own record (or paste its URL).
Will Claude find every site that lists me?
Not always. Many people-search sites block automated visitors or only show results through their own search box, so the prompt tells Claude to mark those COULD NOT CHECK instead of guessing. Search those sites yourself and use the checklist on this page.
Are these opt-outs free?
The links on this page are the sites' own opt-out forms, not paid removal services. PeopleConnect calls its Suppression Tool free, and California says it will never charge you to use DROP.
Is it safe to give Claude my name and address?
Give it the minimum: your name, city and age range are enough to search. Start the chat with Memory turned off in the + menu so nothing from it is saved to Claude's memory, and never paste your Social Security number or passwords.
How long until my listing disappears?
It depends on the site, and many don't publish a timeline. Check back after a week or two, and run the finder prompt again every few months because listings can reappear.
