The first-customer-closer skill: sell without the sales voice

5 minute readUpdated August 2026Explore more

TL;DR

first-customer-closer is a free skill in our public freeskills repo. Copy the folder in, type /first-customer-closer, and tell it about the person who's interested. It writes a one-page conversation script built on the CLOSER framework, saved to ~/first-customer-script.md, with the questions to ask and the exact line that invites the sale.

Someone replied yes. Now you're panicking, because closing sounds like a used-car move and you'd rather build than sell. So you send a long message explaining every feature, then apologize for the price before they've even asked.

A sales conversation is just helping someone get clear on whether this is right for them. You ask honest questions, you listen, and if it fits, you make it easy to say yes. If it doesn't fit, you say so. That last part is what makes people trust the first part.

The first-customer-closer skill is one of the 55 free skills in our freeskills repo. It builds you a one-page script around the CLOSER framework, six stages that run from why they're here to reinforcing the decision, so you walk into the call or the DM thread knowing what to ask, when to say the price, and what to do when they say let me think about it.

first-customer-closer

Turns one interested person into a one-page script: the questions, the price line, the ask. Free and public, one folder.

Install the first-customer-closer skill

A skill is a folder of instructions Claude Code loads as a slash command. Copy it into your skills directory and it's live everywhere.

bashgit clone https://github.com/duncan-buildroom/freeskills.git
mkdir -p ~/.claude/skills
cp -r freeskills/first-customer-closer ~/.claude/skills/

Restart Claude Code, or just open a new session. Install done. No API keys, no config.

Run it the first time

Type /first-customer-closer. It asks who the prospect is, how they came in, whether this is a live call or a back and forth in DMs, and your offer and price. The format matters: a call script flows and gets spoken, a DM script comes in shorter turns with one question at a time.

What comes back is a spoken script rather than a form to read out. You get the actual words for each stage, the five to seven questions you must ask, one clean line that invites the sale, and a branch for when they say they need to think about it. It all saves to ~/first-customer-script.md. Read it out loud once before the conversation. If a line doesn't sound like you, change it, then it will.

Build the script for the person who's interested right now

Run this the moment someone raises their hand, not the night before the call.

/first-customer-closer

Who they are: [name, what they do]
How they came in: [replied to a DM, booked a call, asked at an event]
Format: [live call or DM]
My offer and price: [what you deliver and what it costs]
What I think their problem is: [your best guess]

Write me the script I can read out loud before we talk.

Practice the conversation before you have it

The nerves come from never having said the words. Say them once to Claude first.

Roleplay it with me. You're [the prospect], and you're a bit skeptical. Ask me what you'd really ask. After we're done, tell me the two moments where I over-explained or talked past the yes.

Get the invite line and nothing else

Most people who hate selling freeze at exactly one moment: the ask. If that's you, get that one line and put it on a sticky note.

Just give me the line that invites the sale for my offer, [offer and price]. One version for a call, one for a DM. Short enough that I can say it and then stop talking.

The 60-second version

Here's what this skill does and why it's worth having, said out loud in about a minute.

  1. 1Hook: there's a brand new free Claude skill that takes you from someone's interested and I have no idea what to say, to a one-page script you can read before the call.
  2. 2Mechanism: you tell it who the prospect is, how they came to you, whether this is a live call or a DM thread, and what you charge. It writes a script through the six CLOSER stages with the actual words to say, pulls out the five to seven questions you need to ask, and scripts the moment you invite the sale plus the answer for let me think about it. You end up with a one-page script you can read out loud before the conversation.
  3. 3Transformation: you go into the conversation with the questions written down, you say your price flat, and you ask once and go quiet. That's the whole thing people call closing.
  4. 4Close: the script is free, one of 55 skills. If you need people raising their hand in the first place, Claude Code Club is 9 dollars a month. Link's below.

Tonight: install it, run it on the one person who's already shown interest, and read the script out loud once. That's the practice. That's all of it.

Common questions

  • Do I need to know how to code?

No. Three copy-paste lines install the folder, then you answer questions about a person and your offer in plain English.

  • Is it really free?

Yes. The repo is public and there's nothing to pay for or connect. Claude Code Club is the separate paid community for the whole path.

  • What if it turns out they're not a fit?

Then say so. The skill treats that as the honest move, and it's what makes the yeses real and the referrals show up later.

  • What do I do when they say let me think about it?

The script has a branch for it. That line almost always hides a specific concern, so it gives you a warm way to ask which one it is, then you answer it and re-offer once.

  • What about the other objections?

The objection-handler skill in the same repo builds a full cheat sheet of responses you keep beside this script. This one covers the shape of the conversation, that one covers the pushback.
