The caption-writer skill: a caption that stops the scroll
TL;DR
caption-writer turns the thing you just built into a caption you can paste. You clone the repo, drop one folder into your skills directory, and type /caption-writer. It asks two questions, writes three candidate first lines, and saves the finished post to a file.

Install the caption-writer skill
Three lines in your terminal. The first grabs the repo, the second makes the folder Claude Code looks in, the third copies this one skill into it.

Run it the first time
Type /caption-writer. It asks you two things: what the thing is, in the words you'd use texting a friend, and whether you have a link, a screenshot, or a video, plus which platform this is going on. Ramble on the first answer. The good lines are usually already sitting in the rambling, and the skill keeps your exact phrases instead of cleaning them into marketing language.
Then it tells you which post shape it picked and why, shows you three candidate first lines, and writes the body at the right length for your platform. It saves the finished caption to ~/captions/ with today's date and tells you the path. A good first result reads like a sentence you'd say out loud at a table. If it reads like an announcement, tell it so and it rewrites.

Posts about a mistake get more real replies than posts about a win. You already have the material, you just have to hand it over.

Common questions
Do I need to know how to code?
No. You paste three lines into your terminal to copy a folder, then you type /caption-writer and answer two questions in plain words. Everything after that is writing.
Is it really free?
Yes. The skill is one folder in a public repo. No API keys, no account, no usage cost beyond the Claude Code you're already running.
What if I haven't run /personalize yet?
The skill will ask you for your name, niche, offer, and audience, then save the answers so you only give them once. Running /personalize first just gets it out of the way.
Can it write a caption if I have no screenshot and nothing finished?
Yes. It uses the honest progress shape for unfinished work: where it is now, the one hard part, what's next. If you have nothing built and nothing learned, it'll tell you not to post, which is the right answer.
Will it make up numbers about my results?
No. It won't invent a metric. It's fine with a vague truth like it's faster now, and it'll only write a specific figure if you measured one and gave it to the skill.
