Make a Newborn Feed, Sleep and Diaper Log With AI
TL;DR
In the newborn fog, you can't remember when the last feed was, let alone spot a pattern. Ask Claude to build a simple printable log for feeds, sleep, and diapers, laid out for exhausted one-handed use. You'll have clear answers when the pediatrician asks - and a little sense of order. Plain chat, no code.
What you'll have in 5 minutes
A clean, printable daily log for your newborn - columns for feeds (time, side or amount), sleep (start and end), and diapers (wet, dirty) - designed to be filled in fast with one hand while you hold the baby. Enough to answer 'when did she last eat?' and 'how many wet diapers today?' without trying to remember through the haze.
This is an organizing tool, not medical advice. It happens in a normal chat with Claude.
What you need (all free, no terminal)
- Claude - the free Claude Desktop app or claude.ai in your browser.
- A minute to say how you feed (breast, bottle, or both) and anything specific your pediatrician asked you to track.
- A printer, or your phone to fill it in. No connectors, no command line, no code.
Step 1: Paste the prompt
Start a new chat and paste this. It asks Claude for a simple, printable layout built for real newborn life.
Paste this into ClaudeMake me a simple, printable daily log to track my newborn. I [breast
and bottle feed]. Include columns for: feeds (time, breast side or oz),
sleep (start and end time), and diapers (wet / dirty). One row per
event through the day, plus a small space at the bottom for daily
totals and notes (mood, anything unusual).
Keep it clean and easy to fill in fast with one hand. Make it one
page per day that I can print. Don't add medical judgments - just the
tracking grid.Step 2: Print it and use it
Claude lays out the log. Print a stack, or keep it on your phone. Want it different? "Add a pumping column," "make the rows bigger," "add a weekly summary page." Fill it in as you go - even a few entries a day beats trying to remember.
Common questions
Do I need to know how to code?
No. You answer one question in a normal chat with Claude and paste a prompt. There is no terminal and nothing to install beyond the free Claude app or claude.ai.
Is this medical advice?
No - it's just a tracking tool to help you stay organized and answer your pediatrician's questions. For anything about your baby's health, feeding amounts, or development, always follow your pediatrician's guidance.
Can I print it?
Yes. Claude lays out the log as text you can copy into a document or print directly from your browser, one page per day. Ask for bigger rows or a whole-week version if that's easier.
Can it fit how I feed my baby?
Yes. Tell it breast, bottle, or both, and whether you pump, and it builds the right columns. You can add anything your pediatrician specifically asked you to track, like medication times or tummy time.
Does Claude track the baby automatically?
No - it makes the log; you fill it in. There's no app running in the background or anything connected to your baby. It's a simple, reliable grid you complete by hand, which is exactly what you want at 3am.
Does this cost anything?
No. You can make the log on a free Claude account. The Claude Code Club community is a separate, optional $9 a month for the advanced family systems, but you do not need it to make a newborn log.
