What's Actually Changing on September 14
Since May 2026, Anthropic has run a temporary +50% capacity boost on Claude Code's weekly usage limits for Pro, Max, Team, and seat-based Enterprise plans. On September 14, 2026, that temporary boost goes away and is replaced by a permanent increase of +25% over the original pre-boost baseline - not over today's boosted level. Anthropic hasn't published the underlying token numbers, only this indexed change, so treat the percentages as relative, not absolute.
This applies to the weekly window specifically. The separate 5-hour rolling rate limit is untouched, free plans aren't part of this change, and API customers and consumption-based Enterprise plans were never on the boosted number in the first place.
Why Both Numbers Are True

150 down to 125 is a real cut from where things stand right now, and 125 up from 100 is a real permanent gain over where things stood before May. Both framings get repeated online because both are correct - they're just measuring from different starting lines. The one that matters for your planning is the first one: 125 is less than what you have today.
What This Actually Means If You Bill Around Claude Code Capacity
- A build that comfortably fits inside one weekly cycle at the boosted level might spill into a second week once the standard level takes effect - same scope, less room to run it in.
- A retainer sized around "however much I need this week" gets quietly more expensive to deliver once the ceiling drops, even though nothing about the client relationship changed.
- The desktop app and the CLI on the same account draw from one shared weekly allowance, not separate budgets per tool - so a client-facing agent running in the background counts against the same number as your own hands-on work.

It's the same logic as never quoting a client your absolute fastest possible timeline - you leave room for the number to move against you before it actually does.
- Re-check any proposal priced in the last month against the boosted assumption - if the math only worked at 150, it needs a second look before September 14.
- Front-load the heaviest, most token-hungry work into the first week of a project cycle, while there's still more room to absorb a heavy day.
- Tell the client plainly when a deadline depends on shrinking capacity rather than quietly absorbing the risk yourself and hoping it doesn't show up in the timeline.
