The link-in-bio skill: your own link page instead of a rented one

4 minute readUpdated August 2026Explore more

TL;DR

The link-in-bio skill builds your own link page: your photo, your name, a one-line pitch, and four to six buttons in a deliberate order. Install it, run /personalize once, then type /link-in-bio and dump every link you've got. It sorts and cuts them for you.

Your Linktree looks like everybody else's Linktree, and the link that actually pays you is usually sitting at the bottom of it. The link-in-bio skill builds your own page instead. It has your face and your words on it, it's one file you own, and nobody puts their logo at the bottom of it.

The design isn't the hard part. The order is. People scan the first two buttons, tap one, and leave, so anything below button four is close to invisible on a phone. Beginners bury the money link out of politeness every single time. This skill sorts your links in front of you, explains where each one landed, and then cuts the list to four to six buttons.

It builds phone-first for a reason. Almost everyone who opens this page is coming from an app, one-handed, on a small screen. So the buttons are full width and thumb-sized, and your photo, name, pitch, and first two buttons all fit before anyone scrolls.

link-in-bio

Sorts your links, cuts them to four, and builds the page around them.

Install the link-in-bio skill

Copy the folder into your Claude Code skills directory. That's the install.

bashgit clone https://github.com/duncan-buildroom/freeskills.git
mkdir -p ~/.claude/skills
cp -r freeskills/link-in-bio ~/.claude/skills/

Restart Claude Code or start a new session and the slash command is live. No API keys, nothing to configure.

Run it the first time

Type /link-in-bio. It asks for four things in one short round: a photo (a file path on your computer works), how you want your name to read, what you do in under 12 words, and every link you might want on there. Dump all of them, even the ones you're unsure about. Expect to hand over eight to twelve.

Then it does the part you came for. It orders the links, tells you why each one sits where it does, and asks which four you'd keep if you could only keep four. It rewrites each button label as a plain action, so 'Consulting' becomes 'Book a 20-min call'. You end up with one file and a photo in the same folder.

Build the page in one message

Give it everything at once and it'll come back with the sorted, cut version for you to react to.

/link-in-bio

Name: [how you want to be known]
Photo: [file path on your computer, or say you don't have one yet]
What I do: [what you do and who for, roughly, it'll tighten this]

Every link I might want, unfiltered:
[link 1 and what it is]
[link 2 and what it is]
[keep going, don't filter yet]

Get a pitch line that isn't a job title

If your one-liner keeps coming out like a LinkedIn headline, ask for options and pick. Picking is faster than writing.

Give me three versions of my one-line pitch, under 12 words each. I help [who] do [what]. Make them sound like a person talking, not a job title.

Thumb-test it and fix one thing

Narrow your browser window to about phone width before you judge it. Full desktop width will lie to you.

At phone width, [what's wrong, like 'the buttons are too close together' or 'my photo is so big the first button is off screen']. Fix just that and show me again.

The 60-second version

The say-it-out-loud version of what this skill does and why it matters. About 60 seconds.

  1. 1Hook: there's a brand new free Claude skill that takes you from a Linktree that looks like everyone else's to your own page where the thing that pays you is the first button.
  2. 2Mechanism: you dump every link you've got, unfiltered, and it sorts them by what each one does for you. The thing that pays goes first, the free thing second, your best proof third, and everything past button four gets cut. Then it builds the page phone first, with your photo, your name, and one line about what you do at the top.
  3. 3Transformation: your bio link stops being a menu nobody reads. It sends people to the one thing you want them at, and it looks like you built it, because you did.
  4. 4Close: the page is free to build, and it's one of 55 skills in that repo. Working out what button one should point at is the harder question, and that's the work we do inside Claude Code Club. $9 a month, link's below.

Tonight: build it, get it online, and swap the link into your bio before you go to bed.

Common questions

  • Do I need to know how to code?

No. You hand over your photo, your name, your pitch, and your links. Claude builds the page as one file and you react to it in normal words.

  • Is it really free?

Yes. The skill is a public GitHub folder with no API keys and nothing to install. The page it builds is one file you own, with no service charging you monthly for it.

  • What if I don't have a photo yet?

It builds the page with your initials in a circle and notes the photo as a fix for later. Same for a logo if you'd rather not show your face.

  • What if I don't sell anything yet?

Then your lead capture goes first, and the skill notes that position one is reserved for whatever you sell next. It also points you at the offer-builder skill in the same repo.

  • What if I only have two links?

Build the two. Padding the page with filler makes it worse, and the skill will tell you the same thing.
