Plan a Week of Outfits From Clothes You Already Own

5 minute readUpdated June 2026Explore more

TL;DR

A full closet and nothing to wear is a planning problem, not a shopping problem. Describe (or photograph) the clothes you own and tell Claude about your week, and it gives you outfits from what you already have - plus the one piece, if any, that would unlock several more. It's a normal chat, no code and no new spending.

What you'll have in 5 minutes

A week of outfits built entirely from clothes you already own, matched to what you're actually doing - the school run, work, a night out. No more decision fatigue at 7am, and no more buying another top because you 'have nothing to wear.'

What you need (all free, no terminal)

  • Claude - the free Claude Desktop app or claude.ai in your browser. You can attach photos of your clothes or just describe them.
  • A few minutes to list your main pieces - tops, bottoms, shoes, a jacket or two.
  • No connectors, no command line, no code.

Step 1: Tell Claude what you own

List your main pieces in the chat, or lay a few favorites on the bed and snap photos to attach. You don't need your whole wardrobe - the key items are enough to start. The clearer you are, the better the outfits.

Step 2: Paste the prompt

Paste this into Claude (with photos or a list of your clothes)I want outfit ideas using clothes I already own, so I stop buying
more. Here are my main pieces: [list them, or say 'see the attached
photos']. Before you suggest anything, ask me about my week: what
I'm dressing for (work, school run, a night out), the weather, and
any pieces I love and want to wear more.

Then give me 5 outfits I can make from what I have. For each: the
specific pieces, why it works, and one small swap to change the
vibe. If there's ONE versatile piece I'm missing that would unlock
several more outfits, tell me what it is - just one, not a shopping
list.

Step 3: Wear it, then build on it

Try the outfits. Want more? Ask: "give me 5 more," "dressier options," "what about for a wedding." Tell it which combinations you loved and it learns your taste within the chat, so the next round is sharper.

Common questions

  • Do I need to know how to code?

No. You describe or photograph your clothes in a normal chat and Claude does the styling. There is no terminal, no command line, and nothing to install beyond the free Claude app or claude.ai.

  • Do I have to photograph everything I own?

No. Your main pieces are enough - a handful of tops, bottoms, shoes, and a jacket or two. You can describe them in words or attach a few photos. More detail gives better outfits, but you can start small.

  • Will the outfits actually suit me?

They get better as you tell Claude what you like. The prompt asks about your week and your favorite pieces first, and you can react to each outfit - 'too formal,' 'I never wear heels' - so it tunes to your real style.

  • Won't it just tell me to buy things?

The prompt is built to do the opposite: outfits from what you already own, and at most one versatile piece that would unlock several more - never a shopping list. The whole point is to spend less, not more.

  • Is it okay to upload photos of my clothes?

Yes. You are attaching images in a chat, the same as sending a photo to a friend. There is no access to your devices or accounts - it only sees the pictures you choose to share.

  • Does this cost anything?

No. You can plan a week of outfits on a free Claude account. The Claude Code Club community is a separate, optional $9 a month for the advanced wardrobe systems, but you do not need it to get dressed faster.
