Getting started

Let Claude Plan Your Week on Google Calendar (Jarvis Setup, No Code)

5 minute readUpdated September 2026Explore more

TL;DR

Claude's official Google Calendar connector can create, move and delete events. Connect it once, paste your to-do list with the prompt below, and Claude finds your free time and books a block for every task. You approve each event before it lands. Tell it to go by Jarvis and call you sir if you want the full butler feel. On a paid plan you can schedule the same prompt to run every Sunday night.

What this setup does

"Jarvis" here is not a new app. It's Claude, the normal chat at claude.ai or the Claude desktop app, with Google Calendar connected and one instruction: go by Jarvis. Claude reads your calendar, finds the gaps, and books a block for each task on your list. No code, no terminal, nothing to install.

What the Google Calendar connector can do (from Anthropic's help center): view your events and calendars, create, update and delete events, find mutual availability, respond to invitations, and set up recurring meetings. By default Claude asks for your approval before each action.

Step 1: Connect Google Calendar to Claude

  1. 1Open claude.ai (or the Claude desktop app) and go to Customize > Connectors.
  2. 2Find Google Calendar and click Connect.
  3. 3Sign in with the Google account that holds your calendar and allow the permissions.
  4. 4In a new chat, click the + under the message box, open Connectors, and make sure Google Calendar is switched on.

Step 2: Give it the Jarvis persona

Put this at the top of your planning chat. It's just a style instruction, so change the name or drop it if you like:

promptFor this chat, go by Jarvis and call me sir. Keep replies short. Never delete or move an existing event without asking me first.

Step 3: Paste your to-do list and say plan my week

promptPlan my week. Here's my to-do list:
[paste your tasks, one per line, with a rough time for each if you know it, e.g. "Write proposal - 2h"]

Rules:
- Look at my Google Calendar for Monday to Friday this week and only use free time between [9:00] and [18:00].
- Put deep-focus tasks in the mornings, calls and admin in the afternoons.
- Leave a 15 minute gap between blocks and keep lunch free.
- Don't touch or move my existing events.
- Show me the full plan as a list first. After I say go, create one calendar event per task, titled with the task name.

Claude checks your free time, shows you the plan, and after your go it creates the events. Each one asks for your approval by default, so nothing lands on your calendar that you didn't see.

Best practices:

  • Give a time estimate per task. Without one, Claude has to guess the block length.
  • Name the hours you actually work. Otherwise Claude may use your evenings.
  • Start with one week and check it on Monday. Adjust the rules, not the tasks.
  • Want a daily rest? Add "block 20 minutes at 15:00 every day called Nap". Claude will book it like any other task.

Step 4 (paid plans): run it every Sunday night

Scheduled tasks are available on Claude's paid plans (Pro, Max, Team and Enterprise). They run in the cloud, so they run even when your computer is asleep, and they can use your connectors.

  1. 1Click Scheduled in the left sidebar, then New task.
  2. 2Paste the Jarvis line and the plan-my-week prompt as the task's instructions. Point it at your to-do list (for example a Google Doc, or tell it to use last week's unfinished tasks).
  3. 3Set it to run weekly on Sunday evening, and pick the approval mode you're comfortable with.
  4. 4Save. Monday morning, your week is already on your calendar.

In the newer Claude experience you can also just type: "Every Sunday at 8 PM, plan my week on Google Calendar using [your list]" and click Schedule when Claude proposes the task.

The honest fine print

  • Plans. Anthropic's help center says the Google Workspace connectors are available to all users, while its connector docs list Google Calendar for Pro, Max, Team and Enterprise. If you don't see it on the free plan, that's why. Scheduling is paid only.
  • One docs page is behind. Anthropic's docs page for Google Calendar still calls the connector read-only. The help center and the connector's own tool list (create_event, update_event, delete_event, suggest_time) show it can write. If your account can only read, Claude can still write the plan out and you add it yourself.
  • Custom reminders aren't supported yet. Events use your calendar's default alert (Anthropic GitHub issue #191).

Common questions

  • Can Claude actually add events to my Google Calendar?

Yes. Anthropic's help center lists create, update and delete events for the Google Calendar connector, and the connector's tool list includes create_event and update_event. By default Claude asks for your approval before each action.

  • Do I need to code or install anything?

No. Everything happens in claude.ai or the Claude desktop app: connect Google Calendar under Customize > Connectors and paste the prompt.

  • Which Claude plan do I need?

Pro or higher is the safe bet for the Google Calendar connector, and scheduled weekly runs need a paid plan (Pro, Max, Team or Enterprise).

  • Is "Jarvis" a separate app?

No. Jarvis is just the name you tell Claude to use. The planning is done by Claude with the official Google Calendar connector.

  • Will it mess up my existing meetings?

The prompt tells Claude not to move or delete existing events, and every action needs your approval by default, so you see each change before it happens.
