What ChatGPT Intelligent UI is

Intelligent UI is OpenAI's new ChatGPT feature. Instead of only text, a reply can include buttons, forms, charts and maps that you can use right there in the chat. OpenAI rolled it out to paid plans on October 7 and to Free and Go accounts the next day.

Ask for an app, not an answer

What Intelligent UI does for you: it builds the tool for your task on the spot. OpenAI's own examples are a savings calculator, a bill splitter for dinner with friends, and a game you can play in the conversation.

Best practices for Intelligent UI prompts:

  • Say what you want to click or change: a map, a slider, a button, a guest count.
  • Give the real numbers up front (the bill total, the number of people, the cities), so the tool starts filled in.
  • Ask for the result inside the chat, so you never need to open another app.

Prompts to try with Intelligent UI:
